The month we’ve all been waiting for is here! September is 202Creates Month and we are excited to celebrate our creatives, tastemakers, and entrepreneurs that make up our diverse and vibrant community! We’re also thrilled to join Mayor Bowser alongside all of the District’s creatives during the entire month of September! Three years ago, Mayor Muriel Bowser designated the month of September as "202Creates Month" in the District of Columbia. "202Creates Month" is a citywide effort celebrating the District's multi-billion dollar creative economy which includes its culinary artists, cosmetologists, fashion designers, musicians, performing artists, filmmakers, tech entrepreneurs, visual artists, and production companies. We thank Mayor Muriel Bowser for her support of District creatives across all 8 Wards.

The 202Creates Kick-off Event was an amazing celebration. Thank you all for showing up and showing love! But wait, there's more! We want you - yes you - to help us celebrate DC Radio 96.3HD4's Two Year Anniversary, the Kennedy Center REACH Opening Festival, H St Festival, DC Art All Night, and so much more in the coming weeks.

On Saturday September 28, spend the day with us closing out 202Creates Month with a bang!  I am pleased to announce the launch of "The Sound of Family and Fun Festival" - a day filled with music, food, and togetherness. The day begins at 12 PM with The Sound of Family and Fun, followed by the Closing Event starting at 6 PM at Busboys and Poets.  These events are also free and open to the public and take place in the heart of Anacostia on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE . Visit the "Save the Dates" section of this page to RSVP and for more information on events happening in and around DC.

In the spirit of celebration, I am also sending a special thank you to Sew N Know (SONE) for their recognition during the SONE Revival DC Scholarship Cruise. I am not only honored to have been awarded the first-ever "DC Gates Opener Award," but humbled by the love and support of an organization that's working tirelessly to change the nature of economic conditions for disadvantaged and minority students. Thank you for your efforts in serving our communities across all 8 Wards.

Stay tuned for updates on all of the exciting events happening during this year's 202Creates month! You don't want to miss the celebration that not only drives creativity in our city but demonstrates to the entire nation why and how the 202 CREATES!
